‘If you believe, you can achieve’ Paralympian visits Spinal Injury Team for inspiring meeting
“If you believe you can achieve.”
This powerful message comes from Marcus Perrineau-Daley, a Paralympian who recently met with the Spinal Injury Team.
In 2014, Marcus was paralysed in a road traffic accident. He is very candid about the circumstances of the accident, saying it was his ego and pride that contributed and resulted in him being paralysed.
Rather than be defined by the accident, Marcus chose to defy the odds. His unwavering belief in his ability to achieve has propelled him to an extraordinary career in sports.
Initially, Marcus qualified as a personal trainer, focusing on supporting people with disabilities. He returned to the gym and immersed himself in adapted weightlifting before discovering wheelchair boxing.
In 2020, Marcus found his true calling in wheelchair racing, dedicating himself to intense training. His hard work paid off at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, where he earned a silver medal in the T52 100m.
Now, with an eye on the next Paralympics, Marcus is aiming even higher—targeting gold in both the 100m and 400m events.
