Our Trustees
Meet the Bolt Burdon Kemp Charity trustees.

Jonathan Wheeler
Chair of Trustees
Jonathan qualified as a solicitor in Liverpool in 1993, and joined Bolt Burdon Kemp LLP five years later, becoming a partner in 2003. Formerly head of both the Personal Injury and Child Abuse teams, he was appointed Managing Partner in 2017.
An Ambassador for the charity Stonewall, Jonathan is also a member of the Law Society’s governing council, representing LGBTQ+ members. He is also a Fellow and former President (2015-16) of the not-for-profit Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
One of Jonathan’s personal goals has been to find more ways to ‘give back’ to the people the firm helps, in the knowledge that no matter how much compensation a client recovers, we will never be able to reverse the often life changing injuries they will suffer. He is motivated to help our clients and others like them in ways, such as campaigning for positive change for injured people everywhere, influencing politicians and policy makers to make a real difference, even when (or especially when) there is no compensation to help them adjust and live their best lives. This work was encapsulated by our Manifesto for Injured People.
Setting up The Bolt Burdon Kemp Charity is another way Jonathan feels he and his colleagues can ‘give back’, supporting charitable aims not just targeted at our clients, people like them and their families, but doing what we can to improve the area where we work in the City of London, and championing diversity and inclusion within the legal profession.

Rhicha Kapila
Rhicha is a Partner and Chief Operations Officer at Bolt Burdon Kemp LLP, overseeing the firm’s operations and implementing policies that reflect BBK’s values. She is also the training principle at BBK, dedicated to ensuring that the legal profession is accessible to individuals from diverse socio-mobility backgrounds.
Her background as the former head of the military team at BBK demonstrates her commitment to supporting vulnerable groups, such as service personnel, veterans, and their families who have suffered serious injuries. She has a track record of advocating for mental health awareness and addressing the stigma faced by those in the military community.
Rhicha is delighted to be a trustee of The Bolt Burdon Kemp Charity due to her extensive background and experience, which aligns well with the charity’s mission; helping injured people and their families as well as supporting initiatives that promote equality, diversity, and inclusion within the legal profession.

Rebecca Sheriff
Rebecca is a partner at Bolt Burdon Kemp LLP and has been representing survivors of abuse for over 14 years. Rebecca acts for both children and adults in their claims arising from abuse and/or assault they have suffered. She is passionate about ensuring that survivors of abuse achieve justice through whatever means; whether that be compensation to assist them in moving on with their lives or an apology from those who have injured them. As part of her work with survivors, Rebecca also provides training to police forces across the country on survivors’ rights as well as working closely with a number of abuse charities.
